MOTOR ONLINE TESTS

1. 3-PHASE ELECTRICAL SIGNATURE ANALYSIS:

During operation, the motor current and voltage patterns are collected at a fixed load through CT/PT secondary using a high-resolution data collector. The data will be analysed (separately or often in conjunction with vibration spectrum) using time based study, FFT and frequency peak detection and using algorithms for detection of conditions like static/dynamic eccentricity, soft foot, bearing defects due to electric currents or shaft currents like fluting. For slip-ring motors, rotor asymmetry, if any, can also be identified. Line parameters like harmonics, current/voltage unbalances and efficiency will also be analyzed.

Test Equipment: EMPATH

2. VIBRATION MEASUREMENT AND SPECTRUM ANALYSIS:

ISO 2372 and ISO 10816:2009 will be used for vibration assessment.

During operation, the motor vibrations will be measured using a tri-axial accelerometer and vibration analyser simultaneously using high resolution of more than 12800 lines. The data will be analysed using time based study, FFT and frequency peak detection and using algorithms for detection of conditions like balancing of rotor, alignment of rotor with gearbox/compressor/pump/fan (load), eccentricity, soft foot, bearing defects etc. Test Equipment: Crystal Coco-80 Vibration Analyzer or SPM Diamond Analyzer

3. ACOUSTIC EMISSION

ISO 22096:2007 will be used for acoustic emission.

Bearing defects like spall in roller balls, inner/outer raceways etc. can be identified and its severity is indicated with action plan. Such defects due to spall are also picked up in Acoustic Emissions picked up using “Shock-pulse” technique.

Test Equipment: SPM Diamond Analyzer
